I tried photorec but the sd card does not show up at all. The next day I used it again and was able to see the photos.

Does any software need to be downloaded or to purchase a separate reader. I just used my new canon e0s 500D with an SDHC Memory card and i can't download the photos to my laptop. I can still view them, thank God, but can't take any more. Now, I get it out and do it again and the button falls off! I am very upset!
